Description

Wool Scarfs handmade by artisans from India. Scarf in pure wool in are extremely soft and flowing and can go well with western as well as oriental dresses. This scarf wrap remains a favorite with women of all ages. Most of India's handmade scarfs wool wraps come from Punjab.

Indian scarves are often long and narrow, usually worn on or near the head, for warmth, fashion, cleanliness, or religious purposes. In dry, dusty climates, or in environments where there is a lot of airborne contaminants, a thin scarf wrap is often worn over the head to keep the hair clean. Over time, this custom has evolved into a fashionable item in many cultures, particularly among women. Scarves in India have a significant place and traditional value. They are significant because they are considered a protector of women's integrity. Women's dress in India is considered incomplete without a lady scarf. The fabric of a woman's scarf can be cotton, chiffon, georgette, wool, silk, net or sometimes mixed too. These are integral parts of the salwar kurta, lehenga, and churidar. With cultural exposure from Europe, these fashion scarfs found their way to the western wardrobes too.

5BEAUTIFUL!  Jan 23, 2008 By Jessica Hirschhorn
This wool scarf is stunning and wonderfully made. I wear it over my winter coat and have gotten many compliments. The fabric is very soft and lush. It arrived remarkably FAST considering its origin in India. I have recieved a couple of very nice e-mails from the company since I bought it. It would make a great gift.

5Beautifully Soft  Jan 07, 2008 By Abigail M. Harvey "AMH"
Absolutely beautiful! I was so happy when it arrived. Not only is it elegant and unique, it is practical. It's perfect in the evenings or at work. A great way to keep warm without the bulky and boring sweaters. The square shape is perfect around the shoulders or neck. The pattern is stunning and incredibly soft! No itching! I love it!
